The Canada Place Sails of Light are illuminated each evening from dusk to dawn, with seasonal vibrant colours.
A striking celebration of colour and light on Vancouver’s waterfront, the Sails of Light are viewable from the west side of Canada Place, with prime viewing locations including Stanley Park, the Coal Harbour seawall, the Vancouver Convention Centre West and the surrounding waterways.
Sail lighting requests
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is pleased to offer local charities and non-profit groups the opportunity to build awareness for their cause or organization by illuminating the Sails of Light in colours themed to the specific cause*.
Send requests to the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority by email at [email protected]. Applications must be submitted directly by the charity/non-profit organization making the sail lighting request and any applications that are missing information will not be considered.
All requests must be received in writing at least 60 days prior to the lighting request. All requests made for the following calendar year will be placed in a queue for review in January of the request year.
Please note that lighting for personal occasions, events, conferences or other commercial interests are not permitted. Due to the volume of requests and an existing calendar of lighting displays, not all requests can be accommodated. The causes selected to be highlighted on the Sails of Light are at the sole discretion of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
Please include the following information in your request:
- Name of organization
- Contact name
- Phone number
- Date(s) of cause or awareness day
- Date requested for lighting
- Description of cause
- Have you made the same request to other iconic facilities in Vancouver? If yes, which ones?
- Is this an annual or one-time event?
- What colour(s) are you requesting the sails be lit with?
- Please provide details of how you will promote your event, and where mention will be made of the lighting of the Canada Place Sails of Light
*Where possible, causes will be recognized on the official national or international week/day/month.
