Performer highlight

World Music Fusion

We are thrilled to be featuring artists from Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver’s artists in residence program. This project, which brings together artists from Quebec and British Columbia, has over the years become an incubator for musical and creative talent that has won enthusiastic acclaim from audiences.

This year, the project will be given a new scope, with no fewer than five artists from different world music groups: ILAM (Senegal / Montreal), Joe Amouzou (Togo / B.C.), Jacky Essombé (Cameroon / B.C.), Yoro Noukoussi (Benin / B.C.) and DJ Marc Fournier (Canada / B.C.). Drawing on contemporary sounds as well as the rich cultural traditions of their African countries of origin, they will blend their repertoires and create new ones.

Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver’s artists in residence will be performing at Canada Place on June 24 & June 27.
