NEW: 1st Annual Canada Day Parade 2009
![]()
The inaugural parade kicked off at 7pm from Georgia & Broughton St on July 1, 2009. This was an exciting addition to the day’s festivities. Presented by the Burrard Inlet Fireworks Society with support from the Department of Canadian Heritage & Celebrate Canada Committee for BC.
2009 Outdoor Street Festival
In 2009, we took it to the streets! It started at Canada Place, our inspiring national landmark, and stretched west along the harbour front to Harbour Green Park. Guests enjoyed the quintessential West Coast experience of an ocean breeze, majestic views of the North Shore Mountains & Stanley Park, and Inspirationally Canadian performances.
All Canadian Musical Entertainment

Three outdoor stages: The Canada Place Plaza Stage, Coast Capital Savings Mountain View Main Stage, and Celebrate Canada Stage featured musical entertainment and performances all day long. Included Elise Estrada, Soulstream, Rumba Calzada, Delhi 2 Dublin, Dal Richards, Ten Souljers, Laurell and more. Arassay and Izaak from "So You Think You Can Dance Canada!" and Vancouver's hottest dance crews got the crowds grooving!
20TENT
Guests experienced winter in July as they walked through an unforgettable chilled experience!
The Flying Canucks
Featuring past, present and future Olympians, The Flying Canucks performed outstanding aerial acrobatic skiing, snowboarding and new-school freestyle ‘Big Air’ maneuvers. They jumped, flipped, somersaulted, twisted and turned individually and simultaneously in synchronization, to the high energy beats of a dynamic soundtrack. It was the most entertaining combination of action and athleticism!
Traditional Citizenship Ceremony
Hosted by CTV's Pamela Martin, the traditional Citizenship Ceremony was a special part of our annual celebration as we welcomed 61 new citizens to our Canadian family in a heartfelt ceremony that kicked off the day’s celebrations. There was cake for everyone!
Canadian Forces Zone
We're proud to partner with the Canadian Forces. They brought incredible displays and exhibits from our Navy, Army and Air Force. Guests celebrated the men and women who keep our country strong and free.
