Every year Canada Place “goes national” and brings our Canadian Spirit booth on the road to festivals across Canada. Like many Canadians, each summer we hit the highways to discover more of our beautiful country, munch delicious roadside treats and make friends with as many Canadians and international visitors as possible.

With this year being the centennial of one of Canada’s great cultural institutions, the Calgary Stampede, the Canada Place team saddled up and headed to Calgary. Given that most Stampede participants start the day with flapjacks and bacon soaked in maple syrup, this is our kind of Canadian event.

We had a great time meeting Calgarians and bringing our Inspirationally Canadian message to visitors from across Canada and around the world. The Canadian flags and maple leaf pins from Canadian Heritage were a big hit. It was especially satisfying to provide pins and flags to members of the armed forces and police and fire services.

We are very grateful to everyone that made us feel so welcome in the Stampede city. It was rewarding to speak with travelers that had been to, or were making their way to Canada Place on their cross Canadian journeys. With the brand new free attractions we have opened this summer including the War of 1812 ExperienceThe Digital Trail and Canada’s Five Foundations why wouldn’t you?

You can see more photos of our Stampede adventures at www.facebook.com/canadaplace including a surprise Plains Indians parade and some of the cutest little cowpokes you have ever seen. Check them out and leave your comments about your favorite Calgary Stampede experience. Would you like us to come to your favorite festival next year? Drop us a line at events @ canadaplace.ca.
