Vancouver, BC ― The National Capital Commission (NCC), together with Canada Place, invite British Columbians to share their ideas and their aspirations for the future of Canada’s Capital at the Plan for Canada’s Capital kiosk in Vancouver from October 29 to October 30, 2011.

Vancouver, BC – Canada Place won the International Festivals & Events Association’s (IFEA) Grand Pinnacle Award for Canada Day at Canada Place 2011 presented by Coast Capital Savings. The International Festivals & Events Association hosts the annual Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards recognizing excellence in producing all components of a festival or event. Individual awards are handed out for excellence in creative, multi-media, advertising campaigns and sponsorship in addition to the overall grand prize,the Grand Pinnacle Award for international event of the year.

Canada Place is proud to broadcast all Vancouver Canucks playoff games on Canada's Storyboard, the 25ft Outdoor LED Screen on the front of Canada Place. A natural gathering place just steps from public transit, families, visitors and sports enthusiasts are invited to come together at Canada Place to cheer on their Canucks. Game 2 on Saturday was witnessed by thousands in a fun family-friendly environment.

Canada Place was honoured to have Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Vancouver on Monday to announce the completion of the replacement of the facility’s iconic 90-foot sails. Completed on time and on budget, the sail replacement will ensure Canada Place continues to thrive and generate $1 billion to the local economy each year for the next thirty years.

For the first time in nearly two decades, the historic Woodward’s Windows will be viewable back where it all began: in the newly restored Woodward’s building at Hastings and Abbott. Beginning December 1st, the beloved Woodward’s Windows will delight guests with animated scenes and colourful holiday characters. Canada Place Corporation is thrilled to announce its marquee Canada Day at Canada Place 2010 event has been awarded the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s (TIAC) 2010 Metro Toronto Convention Centre Event of the Year Award. The National Awards for Tourism Excellence, presented by The Toronto Star, recognizing tourism excellence, were announced during a ceremony last night at the TIAC Tourism Summit in Gatineau, Quebec.

The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) paid tribute to Canada Day at Canada Place 2009 on September 15th with a Gold IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Ceremony held at the IFEA’s 55th Annual Convention & Expo in Saint Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. Canada Day at Canada Place 2009 has won six local, nation and international awards.

Vancouver, British Columbia – Today Canada’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister John Baird, joined with Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, and Mike Shardlow, President and CEO of Canada Place Corporation to mark the start of construction for the replacement of Canada Place’s iconic sail roof.

This year Canada Place celebrated across the country in both Vancouver and Ottawa where Canada Place’s “Canadian Spirit Booth” made its debut at Canada Day in the Capital.
