SAILS OF LIGHT - FEATURED VANOC'S "LOOK OF THE GAMES"

In 2010, Canada Place was proud to be home to the Sails of Light featuring VANOC's "Look of the Games". Canada Place lit up its iconic sails in celebration of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Sails of Light was nightly from dusk (5pm) to dawn (8am) from January 30 to March 31, 2010. The stunning show featured VANOC’s “Look of the Games,” blending colour, animation, imagery and texture. Canada Place and VANOC worked closely with renowned Canadian company Moment Factory, based in Quebec, to develop the exceptional lighting design and program. O CANADA! CANADIAN MEDALISTS WILL BE MUSIC TO OUR EARS

O-CA-NA-DA! was the sound heard from coast to coast to coast when a Canadian won a medal at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. And for those celebrating in Vancouver, it rang loud and clear. Whether you showcased your pride with tears of joy, hearty clapping, chest pumping or a silent smile, when you heard the Heritage Horns at Canada Place play the first four notes of our national anthem, you knew it was time to celebrate. Canada Place is proud to support and celebrate our nation’s athletes. For more information on the Heritage Horns, please click here.

CELEBRATE CANADA AT CANADA PLACE'S WELCOME CENTRE

We invited the general public to visit the Canada Place Welcome Centre located in the front plaza from January 12 – March 21, 2010 for a taste of Canadiana, activities and giveaways.

Visitors signed Canada’s Guestbook at the Welcome Centre and sent well wishes to loved ones back home. Additionally, all visitors had the unique opportunity to become an Authentic Canadian by picking up our Guide to Becoming an Authentic Canadian. This fun pocket book had everyone chatting about quirky Canadianisms. You could even earn an Authentic Canadian certificate!

The Welcome Centre is recognized by its enormous Canadian flag and is staffed by Canada Place ambassadors who are available to assist with local & tourist information. It will re-open on April 16, 2010.
